About the Staff

Coach Harwood's Basketball Camp

The experience of this staff as basketball players, coaches and teachers make the Coach Harwood’s Basketball Camp staff the best in the area. All of the commissioners below bring experience as former campers themselves as well as players under Coach Harwood at Magruder. Each summer we also have many local teens and young adults work at our camp. They are from many high schools, including: Magruder, Sherwood, Blake, Rockville, Clarksburg, Good Counsel, Holy Cross, Gonzaga and Georgetown Prep.

Todd Dembroski

Todd has worked over 20 consecutive summers at Coach Harwood’s Basketball Camp and is the head coach at Rockville High School. He has been a Physical Education teacher in Montgomery County for the last eight years after graduating from Salisbury University where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a member of the 2001 state championship team and he was on the Magruder Coaching staff for six years.

Tim Harwood

Tim has been a part of camp nearly his entire life and has seen it from every angle. After graduating from Magruder he continued his education and basketball career at Salisbury University where he earned all-conference honors multiple times and is at the top of various shooting records at SU. Tim is the JV coach at Magruder and a PE teacher in Montgomery County.

Colleen Harwood
Colleen graduated in 2015 from Catholic University after playing for a very successful field hockey team for 4 years. Colleen has a "real" job lends a hand on some of our special camp days. She also works to help us with marketing and clerical support.

Pat Harwood

Pat has been involved in Coach Harwood’s Basketball Camp for over 20 years as a camper, coach, commissioner and Head Referee. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Physical Education and brings referee experience from every level of basketball: elementary, middle and high school, Junior College, Pro-Amateur, and Divisions 1, 2 and 3. When Pat is not busy refereeing he is a real estate agent in the DC area.

Ryan Junghans

Ryan has worked at camp since 2002 and has been a Physical Education teacher as well as basketball coach since 2013 in Montgomery County. After graduating from Magruder in 2004, he continued his stellar career at Hood College where he earned All-Conference honors and was one of the top shooters in the country; he still owns many records at Hood and in the Capital Athletic Conference.

Emily Harwood
Emily Harwood continues to contribute to the operations of the camp after graduating from Gettysburg College, where she played both field hockey and basketball. She is employed by Capital One but lends her expertise with marketing and administrative duties.
