Coach Harwood Letter to the Parents
Dear Parents,
I am very excited to be back for our 28th year of Coach Harwood's Basketball Camp, again sponsored by OBGC. When we started the camp my four children were between the ages of 1 and 8 years old, and now they all have children of their own. For the first thirteen years of camp I always had at least one of my children as a camper and like all parents, I wanted them to have a positive experience. We have worked to make this an enjoyable camp for many children, but it started with my family. All of our children have worked camp and helped to develop and improve it each year.
Campers come to us in the summer with all different skill levels and experience. Some will move on to be JV and Varsity sports players in high school (in a variety of sports), others hopefully will learn that basketball can be a lifetime activity to share with friends and family. As a teacher and parent I have exposed my students and four children to different sports, taught them the fundamentals and tried to make it exciting for them. It is up to them to decide if they want to make the sacrifice of time to excel. Parental pressure can take the fun out of any sport.
My wife, Rosemary is a pediatric nurse and will work with all of our staff to establish and maintain a safe environment for your child. Please do not hesitate to call either of us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dan Harwood
